AndyBoard Autonomous Robotics: Basics |
AndyBoard - April 2024 - Lab 1 - A Basic Robot - Part 4: Steps 56 thru 75
Follow the steps below to build the IR reflectance sensor sub-assembly
and attach it to the robot.
Step | Procedure | Picture |
56 |
Locate a 1 x 16 beam (p/n 3703)
and two IR reflectance sensors
| |
57 | Snap the IR reflectance sensors to the 1 x 16 beam in the locations shown
58 |
Locate three 2 x 2 plates (p/n 3022)
| |
59 | Snap the three 2 x 2 plates onto the 1 x 16 beam at the locations shown
60 |
Locate one 1 x 8 beam (p/n 3702) ,
one 2 x 8 plate (p/n 3738) ,
and two 1 x 2 beams (p/n 3700)
| |
61 | Snap each 1 x 2 beam onto one of the outer 2 x 2 plates. Snap the 2 x 8 plate onto the bottom of the 1 x 2 beams. Snap the 1 x 8 beam onto the top of the 2 x 8 plate
62 |
Locate one 1 x 6 plate (p/n 3666) ,
two 1 x 3 plates (p/n 3623) ,
and three 1 x 2 plates (p/n 3023)
| |
63 | Snap the plates on in the locations shown
64 |
Locate one 1 x 8 plate (p/n 3460) ,
two 1 x 3 plates (p/n 3623) ,
and one 1 x 2 plate (p/n 3023)
| |
65 | Snap the plates on in the locations shown
66 |
Locate two 4 x 4 plates (p/n 3031)
| |
67 | Carefully route the wires from th IR reflectance sensors so that they exit through the openings in the back wall and then snap the 4 x 4 plates on to form a solid top
68 |
Locate two sliders ,
two stanchion tops (p/n 3651) ,
and four splined pegs (p/n 3749)
| |
69 | Assemble the slider assembly as shown. Note that the splined pegs that are snapped into the 1 x 16 beam should be free to rotate.
70 | This picture shows the main chassis and the IR reflectance sub-assembly aligned properly and ready to be mated together
71 |
Mate the two assemblies together making sure to route the wires
from the IR reflectance sensors up through the cavities in front
of the motors.
Also, make sure that the sliders end up facing downward
Note that the blue 6 x 10 plate on the bottom of the robot is located such that it restrains the mountings for the sliders from sliding out while allowing the sliders to rotate slightly to maintain proper contact with the ground |

72 |
Locate one 1 x 16 beam (p/n 3703)
and two 1 x 8 beams (p/n 3702)
| |
73 | Snap the 1 x 16 beam into place, as shown, such that it locks the two assemblies to gether. Then snap the two 1 x 8 beams into place
74 |
Locate two 1 x 6 beams (p/n 3894)
| |
75 | Snap the two 1 x 6 beams into the positions shown |
That completes the construction of the IR reflectance sensor sub-assembly
and the attachment of it to the robot.
